NDC should protect Sammy Gyamfi, not punish him — United Fetish Priests

The President of the United Fetish Priest Association of Ghana, Nana Mosi Bansere, has jumped to the defense of the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, amid growing backlash over a recent $800 donation to Evangelist Patricia Asiedu Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa.

Some members of the public have condemned the gesture and are calling on President John Dramani Mahama to relieve Mr. Gyamfi of his post. But Nana Mosi has pushed back strongly against the criticism, calling it unfair and misplaced.

“What crime has Sammy Gyamfi committed?” he asked.

“He gave Agradaa $800 at a public event, not in secrecy. Yet some people are calling for his head? We’ve seen politicians distribute cars, fridges, TV sets, and huge sums of money to delegates during both internal elections and the 2024 general elections. Why were they not questioned?”

Speaking to journalists, Nana Mosi emphasized that the donation should not be interpreted as a bribe or an unethical act, pointing out that Mr. Gyamfi, as a prominent public figure, has the financial means to make such a gesture without any hidden motives.

“This was not a backdoor deal. It was done openly. Agradaa demanded the money, and Sammy Gyamfi did not promise her anything in return. So where is the wrongdoing?” he said.

Nana Mosi also urged the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to resist pressure to penalize Gyamfi, warning that any disciplinary action could damage the party’s credibility and internal cohesion.

“Sammy Gyamfi has done nothing wrong. The NDC should protect him, not punish him,” he concluded.
