Karim Zito may lead us as head coach next season – Kotoko hint

Sarfo Duku, Asante Kotoko’s head of communications, has stated that Karim Zito, the club’s technical director, could take over as a substantive coach after the 2024/25 season.

Kotoko has been linked to media reports of employing Maxwell Konadu or Samuel Boadu as a formal head coach after the current season concludes, and Zito, who is presently acting as interim coach, will take over as the club’s technical director.

In an interview with Akoma FM, Sarfo Duku denied holding conversations with any coach and Kotoko for the head coach post, adding that the team remains focused on winning the league and the FA Cup.

“We (management) have not considered employing a substantive head coach.
We are startled by the names being circulated in the media, as we have not had any discussions with any coaches.”

Duku did, however, reveal that Karim Zito might head the club for the upcoming season, as football is full of uncertainties.

“In football, anything is possible, Karim Zito could take over as head coach, or a new coach could be chosen, but this would only happen after the season and after multiple talks with the coaches and essential stakeholders.”

Sarfo Duku also indicated that the club’s goal of winning a double is on track and achievable.

“Our goal of winning the double remains intact, and that is our primary focus right now.”

Asante Kotoko’s next league game is on Sunday against Legon Cities at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
