The Gallant Cadres of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have commended President John Dramani Mahama for showing leadership by pardoning the Acting CEO of GoldBod, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, following public backlash over a widely circulated video in which he gifted US dollars to popular evangelist and former traditional priestess, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, also known as Nana Agradaa.
In a press release signed by the group’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Richard Sarpong—popularly known as Father Casford—on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the Cadres praised the President for balancing justice with compassion.
“By accepting Mr. Gyamfi’s apology and respecting the caution issued by the Chief of Staff, the President has sent a powerful message—that while the values of discipline and accountability remain paramount within our party and institutions, room must be made for correction, forgiveness, and growth,” the statement said.
The group reaffirmed their full support for the President’s decision not to pursue further action against Mr. Gyamfi beyond the official reprimand, describing it as a clear demonstration of leadership and wisdom. “The President’s wisdom in bringing closure to this matter with dignity and grace has been deeply instructive and inspiring,” the release added.
They concluded by reiterating their admiration for President Mahama’s ability to lead with fairness and humanity, noting that his decision reflects the kind of inclusive and principled governance the NDC stands for.

Gratitude to H.E. President John Dramani Mahama for Tempering Mercy with Justice
We, the gallant cadres of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), extend our heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for his magnanimity and leadership in resolving the recent matter involving the Acting CEO of Goldbod, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi.
In a world where power is often wielded with severity, President Mahama has once again demonstrated that true leadership lies in the ability to temper justice with mercy. By accepting the apology of Mr. Gyamfi and respecting the caution issued by the Chief of Staff, the President has sent a powerful message—that while the values of discipline and accountability remain paramount within our party and institutions, room must be made for correction, forgiveness, and growth.
We wish to reaffirm our respect for the President’s decision that no further action should be taken against Mr. Sammy Gyamfi beyond the official reprimand. The President’s wisdom in bringing closure to this matter with dignity and grace has been deeply instructive and inspiring.
We also want to reassure His Excellency and the broader public that Mr. Gyamfi has taken full responsibility for his actions and has expressed sincere remorse. We are confident that he has learned valuable lessons and that such conduct—particularly the public disbursement of money—will never happen again.
The NDC continues to stand united under the values of integrity, loyalty, and progressive service to the people. We are committed to upholding these principles as we march forward, guided by the vision and example of President Mahama.
Once again, we say thank you, Mr. President, for your wisdom, compassion, and leadership.
We believe former President John Mahama has once again demonstrated his exceptional leadership qualities with the pardon of Sammy Gyamfi. This decision showcases his commitment to mercy and rehabilitation, highlighting his compassionate approach to governance.
Sammy Gyamfi’s public apology after widespread criticism demonstrates his acknowledgment of wrongdoing and willingness to make amends. By pardoning him, President Mahama has shown that he values forgiveness and personal growth, giving individuals a second chance when they have shown remorse.
This gesture speaks volumes about President Mahama’s character, emphasizing his compassion, wise decision-making, and commitment to rehabilitation. His actions remind us that everyone deserves a chance to redeem themselves, and his pardon of Sammy Gyamfi is a commendable example of this philosophy in action.
In our opinion, President Mahama’s leadership style is characterized by empathy, wisdom, and a genuine interest in the well-being of others. His decision to pardon Sammy Gyamfi is a testament to these qualities, and it’s something that we, and many others, greatly admire about him.
