Garden City University College marked a significant academic milestone with the graduation of its latest cohort from the Midwifery Research Studies program.

The ceremony, held at the university’s campus in Kenyase, celebrated the achievements of students who have completed rigorous training and research in maternal and reproductive health.

The graduating class, comprising over 13 students, presented a diverse range of research projects focused on improving maternal and neonatal outcomes in Ghana and beyond.

The program is held in collaboration with the University of Calabar, Nigeria.

In her keynote address, Registrar of the Nurses and Midwifery Council, Philomina Adjoa Nyarkoa Woolley, applauded the students for their dedication and highlighted the importance of evidence-based practice in midwifery.
.
“These graduates are not just practitioners, they are researchers and advocates for quality maternal healthcare.”

“We need to invest more in midwifery research to help the student become knowledgeable practitioners,” she said.

The ceremony was attended by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, who ushered the graduates into the nursing and midwifery practice.

According to the Vice President of the university, Dr. Nana Kwaku Owusu-Kwarteng, the graduation signals GCU’s growing influence in health sciences education, particularly in addressing Ghana’s healthcare challenges through academic research.

He reiterated the school’s commitment to training professionals who combine clinical expertise with scholarly inquiry to transform healthcare delivery.
