Ghana deserves leadership that puts the nation before personal ties — Kennedy Agyapong

Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, says Ghana’s development is being hindered by nepotism among those in leadership.

The New Patriotic Party flagbearer hopeful stated that the country needs leaders who will put national interest ahead of personal relationships.

Speaking at Central University’s Youth Quake Conference on Thursday, May 15, the outspoken politician said he would not spare anyone found guilty of wrongdoing if he becomes President.

“Under my leadership, no one will be spared, no matter how close they are to me. Accountability must begin at the top, and it must be consistent.

“That’s how we set a new standard and send a clear message to everyone around us. Ghana deserves leadership that puts the nation before personal ties,” he said.

He also commented on the video showing the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, giving a dollar cash gift to self-styled evangelist Nana Agradaa.

To the former MP, the act alone was enough evidence that Gyamfi had misconducted himself and should be removed from office.

“In the news, you hear Agradaa and Sammy Gyamfi. If I were the President, now fire — Sammy Gyamfi would have been fired right away, not even a second, because the evidence is clear. I don’t need to go and do any investigation,” he said.
