As part of its annual Constitution Week celebration, the South Tongu Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) organized a special engagement session with the Cooperative Fashion Designers Association in Sogakope.

The event took place on Wednesday, May 15, at the PPAG office, and aimed to raise awareness about civic responsibilities and national development.

This year’s celebration is themed “Ghana’s Future: Our Collective Responsibility”, and emphasizes the vital role of citizen participation in shaping the country’s progress.

In his keynote address, Mr. Seth Fiagorme, Director of NCCE in South Tongu, called on the fashion designers to contribute meaningfully to the development of their community and the nation by strengthening their association. He urged them to advocate for their collective interests and to formalize their operations through registration with the District Assembly.

“By doing so, the state can better support your association when the need arises,” he stated.

Mr. Fiagorme also underscored the importance of fulfilling tax obligations, noting that consistent civic responsibility empowers the government to provide essential public services. He encouraged participants to uphold values such as hard work, honesty, integrity, truthfulness, and humility in their day-to-day operations. These values, he explained, would enhance public trust in their businesses, increase profitability, and allow them to make greater contributions to the national economy.

The session provided a space for open dialogue, with participants pledging to champion civic education and promote responsible citizenship within their industry.

The NCCE’s Constitution Week activities continue across Ghana, reinforcing democratic values and encouraging active citizen engagement in governance.
