The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kintampo North, Hon. Isaac Donkor, has stepped in to support the Busuama Health Centre after years of neglect left the facility struggling to serve patients.
As a son of Busuama himself, Hon. Donkor led a donation ceremony at the health centre, supported by AT Johns Group of Companies Ltd and the Concerned Health Professionals of Busuama (CHoPAB). The goal was to help improve healthcare delivery for the people in the area.
The donation included ten hospital beds, a full delivery set, suturing instruments, a Doppler machine for checking unborn babies’ heartbeats, and a circumcision set. A nebulizer was also given to help patients with breathing problems. To improve airflow at the facility, five ceiling fans were installed.
The ceremony was attended by the Chief and elders of Busuama, health workers, youth, and officials from the Municipal Health Directorate. Also present were the Assemblyman for Busuama, NDC Communications Officer Comrade Dowana, and other party members.
During his speech, Hon. Donkor thanked AT Johns Group for their support and said the donation had eased the burden on his office. He used the opportunity to call on other citizens of Busuama to also help improve the health centre.
He also promised to work with the Municipal Health Directorate to post a lab technician to the facility. This will help improve testing and ensure faster treatment for patients.
After the event, the MCE toured the facility and saw some worrying conditions. The roof is leaking, lighting is poor, and the building has bad ventilation. He assured health workers and the community that his office will take steps to fix these problems.
The event ended on a positive note, with the people of Busuama hopeful that more help would come. Hon. Donkor said he will continue to support health and development projects that bring real change to the lives of the people in Busuama and across Kintampo North.
