The Parliamentary Select Committee on Education has begun its official oversight tour of selected Senior High Schools in the Central Region, following the successful completion of a similar exercise in the Western Region.

Joining the Committee on this leg of the tour is renowned education advocate Kwadwo Ye-large, popularly known as Political Doctor.

The tour commenced with a courtesy call on the Central Regional Minister, during which Committee members engaged in high-level discussions on the state of education in the region. The dialogue focused on pressing issues such as infrastructure deficits, teacher deployment, academic performance, and the gradual phase-out of the double-track system.

Led by Chairman Hon. Peter Nortsu-Kortoe, Member of Parliament for Akatsi North, the Committee proceeded to visit several prominent second-cycle institutions, including Holy Child School, Adisadel College, Ghana National College, Aggrey Memorial SHS, and Aburaman SHS.

At each stop, the Committee interacted with school heads, teaching staff, and students to assess the implementation of government policies, identify on-the-ground challenges, and gather data to inform parliamentary recommendations to the Ministry of Education.

Speaking during the tour, Kwadwo Ye-large, widely known as Political Doctor, stressed the importance of such engagements in shaping sound education policy. “This is not just about oversight; it is about listening, learning, and advocating for lasting solutions. Every visit brings us closer to understanding what our schools truly need,” he stated.

He reaffirmed his dedication to promoting equitable access to quality education across the country, highlighting the importance of strategic investments and collaboration among all stakeholders.

The Committee’s regional oversight tours form part of a broader national effort to monitor the progress of educational reforms. Findings from these visits will be compiled into a comprehensive report to guide both parliamentary deliberations and ministerial action.

As the Central Region leg of the tour continues, the involvement of influential advocates like Political Doctor adds a dynamic and passionate voice to the national dialogue on education—one grounded in experience, advocacy, and a shared commitment to the future of Ghana’s youth.
