The National Concerned Small Scale Miners Association, Ghana, has petitioned the Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD) to extend the deadline for submitting documents for gold dealership licenses.
The current deadline for gold dealers holding old licenses to reapply under the new licensing regime is May 21, 2025. The Association is seeking a one-month extension to enable its members to gather all necessary documents.
Mr. Peprah formally requested the GOLDBOD to extend the deadline for the submission of the applications by another month to enable the miners to gather all the necessary documents needed for the processes.
The GOLDBOD had earlier extended the deadline by three weeks to allow dealers sufficient time to complete the reapplication process.
In a letter to GOLDBOD CEO, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, dated May 20, 2025, the Association cited difficulties in acquiring necessary documents from state agencies as the reason for the request.
According to the President of the Association, Mr. Michael Kwadwo Peprah, some members are struggling to obtain permits from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and tax certificates from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), among other documents.
“Some of our members have not been able to acquire permits from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), tax certificates from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) among others, making it difficult for them to meet the deadline for the submission of their application documents,” Mr. Peprah stated.
The Association’s plea aims to ensure that its members can comply with the new licensing requirements without undue hardship.
