You acted without modicum of conscience in ambulance case, life indeed is a school — Edudzi chides Dame

The Director of Legal Affairs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, has sharply criticized former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame, accusing him of lacking integrity in the handling of the legal case involving then-Minority Leader and now Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

In a strongly worded statement released on Thursday, Mr. Tamakloe responded to comments reportedly made by Mr. Dame, who had urged “good men” to speak out amid ongoing controversy surrounding the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo.

“Life indeed is a school. This young man was hell-bent on securing a conviction against Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, now Minister of Finance and acted without a modicum of conscience,” Mr. Tamakloe said. “Good men, please talk now. I just remembered that Godfred is not a good example.”

Mr. Tamakloe’s remarks appear to reference recent debates following President John Dramani Mahama’s decision—after consultation with the Council of State—to establish a prima facie case against the Chief Justice, leading to her suspension.

He also reminded Mr. Dame of his conduct during the prosecution of Dr. Ato Forson, who was accused of causing financial loss to the state over the procurement of ambulances during his tenure as Deputy Finance Minister.

The NDC’s Legal Director’s comments add to growing criticism from members of the party, who have long maintained that the case against Dr. Ato Forson was politically driven.
