David Amuquandoh’s journey from the vibrant streets of Accra, Ghana to the innovation hub of Silicon Valley is more than a story of geographic transition.

It is a narrative of cultural insight, technical mastery, and relentless passion to redefine fintech globally.

Early Career: Digitalizing Banking Services Across Africa David began his career at CalBank, where he played a pivotal role in digitalizing traditional banking services, helping the institution modernize and expand access to financial products for its customers.

Building on this foundation, he joined Ecobank where he worked on the group’s first-ever agency banking platform. This initiative was designed to bring financial services to underserved communities through a network of local agents.

Later, David took on a leadership role at Stanbic Bank Ghana where he was integral to kickstarting the organization’s digital and transformation journey. His efforts modernized internal processes and launched new digital products that significantly enhanced customer experience, positioning the bank as a leader in fintech innovation within the region.

Expanding Global Expertise in the United States further expanding his global fintech expertise, David served as Head of Engineering at Marygold&Co., a fintech company based in the United States.

At Marygold & Co., he led the engineering team that built and launched a mobile-first debit card and investment platform. In this role, he played a crucial part in delivering a regulatory-compliant, customer-centric financial product that addressed both speed to market and superior user experience.

It was through his work with Marygold&Co. that David relocated to the United States, settling in Silicon Valley the epicenter of innovation and technology, where he continued to build his vision of transforming how fintech products are created around the world.

Industry Leadership and Contribution to African Innovation David has also served as a judge and panelist during two of Africa’s biggest hackathons organized by Hacklab Foundation: in 2019 with the theme “Can Blockchain Transform the Service Sector in Ghana” and in 2021 with the theme “Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to Drive Digital Transformation in Africa.”

His involvement highlights his commitment to fostering technological innovation and mentoring emerging talent across the continent. Founding Lyte Digital: Revolutionizing fintech development with over a decade of experience developing and leading fintech projects across Africa and the United States, David recognized the universal challenges that slow innovation: lengthy development timelines, complex regulatory landscapes, and the scarcity of specialized engineering talent.
