The newly appointed Chairman of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Governing Council, Akyeamfuo Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu, has announced plans to increase the number of medical students at the university.

This initiative aims to address the country’s shortage of doctors and improve the patient-doctor ratio.

Speaking to this reporter, the chairman indicated that one of his objectives is to help the university train more doctors to meet the growing healthcare needs of the nation.

He revealed that by increasing the number of medical graduates, KNUST aims to reduce the burden on existing healthcare professionals and enhance patient care.

“We are committed to producing more skilled medical professionals to cater for the healthcare needs of Ghanaians,” he stated.

According to Akyeamfuo Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu, the initiative will not only improve the patient-doctor ratio but also contribute to the overall development of the healthcare sector.

He further noted that the increased number of doctors will lead to better healthcare outcomes and improved patient care.

The new Governing Council Chairman’s initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the healthcare sector, and KNUST is poised to play a vital role in shaping the future of healthcare in Ghana.
