Adenta Kumi accusations against judiciary cannot be ignored

Former Tamale Central MP and legal practitioner, Inusah Fuseini, says he is unsurprised by the actions of state security operatives seeking further information from Alfred Ababio Kumi popularly known as Adenta Kumi following his recent controversial allegations.

He alleged that two members of the five-member committee, chaired by Justice Gabriel Pwamang, had been seen socializing with a lawyer Thaddeus Sory representing one of the petitioners at a restaurant.

Kumi, a former parliamentary aspirant for the Adenta constituency, recently petitioned the President to dissolve the committee probing the suspended Chief Justice.

Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show, Mr. Fuseini noted that Kumi’s claims, particularly those involving justices of the superior court and a lawyer connected to the ongoing petition against the Chief Justice, have understandably drawn significant public attention.

“I am not surprised because the allegations he made against the justices of the superior court of judicature and the lawyer representing one of the petitioners have clearly raised serious concern among the public,” he stated.

Although some legal analysts have expressed skepticism over the plausibility of such a high-profile meeting occurring in a public space, Mr. Fuseini emphasized that Kumi’s entire case hinges on the alleged meeting.

“The entire foundation of Adenta Kumi’s petition is the alleged meeting between the justices and the counsel for one of the petitioners,” he clarified. “If it is indeed the case that the committee members met with the petitioner’s counsel to discuss issues related to the case, that implies collusion and raises questions about the integrity of the process.”

He added that the credibility of the committee could be seriously undermined if the claims turn out to be true.

“If those individuals are acting in bad faith, then they are unfit to serve on the committee. That is the crux of the petition. However, if no such meeting took place, the petition lacks substance, it is based on a baseless claim,” he concluded, stressing that the seriousness of the allegation demands a comprehensive investigation.
