Hon. Dr. Kabiru Tia Mahama, Member of Parliament for the Walewale Constituency, has announced plans to establish an ultra-modern recording studio in Walewale to support emerging talents in the North East Region.
The MP made the announcement during the 6th edition of the North East Music Awards on May 24, 2025, where the initiative was met with overwhelming enthusiasm from artists and youth in attendance.
Dr. Mahama explained that the project is aimed at promoting and developing the skills of young people in the creative arts industry. He believes the studio will not only nurture talent but also create employment opportunities and reduce the region’s high rate of drug abuse.
He urged the youth to channel their talents into promoting peace and development, while encouraging artists to seize every opportunity to grow. “Our young people have immense potential, and it is our responsibility to create opportunities for them to thrive. This recording studio will serve as a hub for creativity and innovation, allowing our talented individuals to showcase their skills and contribute to the cultural landscape of the North East Region,” he stated.
Dr. Mahama emphasized the importance of financial literacy among artists, advising them to adopt sound money management practices to sustain their careers.
He also revealed that the recording studio project would be complemented by workshops and mentorship programs, aimed at equipping aspiring musicians and filmmakers with the skills needed to succeed in the entertainment industry.
By offering a platform for creative expression through music and film, the MP believes the initiative will provide youth with positive alternatives to harmful behavior, while also fostering a sense of purpose and self-reliance.
The studio is expected to be completed and operational by the end of the year, providing a vital resource for creative development in the region.
The announcement marks a significant investment in youth empowerment and is seen as a bold step toward revitalizing the creative arts sector in the North East Region.
