The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mr. Samuel Nartey George, is set to lead a two-day retreat for Cabinet Ministers in the second week of July, focusing on the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance governance and public service delivery.
The Minister announced this initiative during a presentation on AI Policy by the Project Lead of the KNUST Engineering Education Project (KEEP), Prof. Jerry John Kponyo, in Accra.
According to him, the retreat aims to explore the potential applications of AI, develop strategic plans for its integration into ministerial operations and foster collaboration among various ministries.
Mr. George emphasized that the retreat underscores the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for improved efficiency, transparency, and informed decision-making.
“By embracing AI, Ghana’s governance can enhance public services, drive economic growth, and improve citizens’ lives,” he stated.
Mr. George noted that the retreat will provide a platform for Cabinet Ministers to engage with AI experts, share experiences, and develop strategies for harnessing AI’s transformative potential.
He stressed the need to establish an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Commission to oversee the development and implementation of AI strategies in Ghana.
This, he indicated, will harness AI’s potential while ensuring responsible and beneficial use.
