The Bank of Ghana’s Kumasi office on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, commissioned an ultra-modern ICT training lab at the Kumasi Central Prison.

The lab is equipped with ten (10) Dell desktop computers, a projector, air conditioner, and a multifunctioning printer and photocopier.

The act is a component of the bank’s Community Social Responsibility program, which aims to assist inmates with their rehabilitation and eventual reintegration.

Leading the commissioning and expressing his sincere gratitude to the Bank of Ghana was the Regional Prisons Commander, who also serves as the Officer-in-Charge of the Kumasi Central Prison, Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) James B. Mwinyelle (Ing).

“We are extremely grateful for this wonderful gesture and pledge to make it meaningful for both officers and inmates,” he stated.

He again urged the prisoners in attendance to pay attention to the ICT instruction.

He reaffirmed, “You must take this very seriously and realise that we cannot eliminate ICT; because it is the foundation of life.”

The head of the Kumasi Central Prison’s education unit, Chief Superintendent of Prisons (CSP) Sadia Mohammed, gave the Bank of Ghana team assurances about the highest standard of maintenance culture.

Chief Officer Augustine Arthur, the headmaster of the Kumasi Central Prison based Reformation Basic and Senior High School, stated that, the school will submit five (5) candidates for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) this year and an additional five (5) for the November-December Examination (NOV/DEC).

Felicia Asare Kyei, Head of OFIS, and Enock Ansong, Head of Security, represented the Bank of Ghana.
