Ghana Digital Centres CEO backs private sector in tech jobs push

Ghana Digital Centres Limited CEO, Dzifa Gunu, has reiterated government’s commitment to partnering with the private sector to expand the establishment of digital innovation and entrepreneurship hubs, commonly referred to as Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) centres.

He explained that beyond enabling companies to focus on their core operations by outsourcing non-essential tasks, BPOs are vital tools for reducing unemployment, one of the key priorities of the Mahama administration.

Mr. Gunu made the remarks during a working visit to Cyber1 Defence Communications, a private ICT firm based in Accra that is focused on cybersecurity awareness, mentorship, and training.

Founded three years ago, Cyber1 Defence Communications has emerged as a leading ICT institution, specialising in cybersecurity, digital forensics, blockchain technology, artificial intelligence, and software development.

The company is also known for offering free ICT training in schools, communities, and institutions, alongside its robust advocacy on cybersecurity awareness.

During the visit, Mr. Gunu toured lecture halls and interacted with both students and staff.

He was conducted around the facility by Co-Founder David Gyedu, who noted that the company’s work has helped transform the lives of many young people who might otherwise have remained idle or vulnerable to negative influences.

Mr Gyedu also praised government initiatives such as the One Million Coders program, which aims to equip one million Ghanaians with coding and digital skills to meet the demands of the future.

Mr. Gunu commended Cyber1’s leadership for their efforts and expressed his agency’s readiness to collaborate with private firms to further government’s agenda on youth empowerment and job creation through technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

Founder and CEO of Cyber1 Defence Communications, Mr. Foster Dogbe, also underscored the importance of strong partnerships between government and the private sector to accelerate Ghana’s development.
