Has the Foreign Minister gone to the moon? – Minority fumes over Minister’s absence from Parliament

Minority Chief Whip Frank Annor Dompreh has lashed out at the continued absence of the Minister for Foreign Affairs, questioning why efforts to reach him since last Friday have failed.

In a fiery submission, the Chief Whip expressed frustration that not even parliamentary clerks have been able to make contact with the Minister.

“Your defense of not reaching the Foreign Minister is not tenable. Has he gone to the moon? Since last Friday you can’t reach him. What network is he using?” he questioned.

The Minority described the development as part of a growing and unacceptable trend, accusing some ministers of routinely “abusing the process” by evading parliamentary accountability.

“If ministers can’t show up, they need to show respect to this house. This will not be acceptable. A trend is emerging and it must stop,”he stressed.

The Foreign Affairs Minister was expected to appear before the House to respond to urgent questions but failed to do so without prior notice or explanation, a situation the Minority says undermines the authority and dignity of Parliament.

“He should get the Foreign Minister to appear. You can’t reach him on the phone. The Clerks-at-Table also can’t reach him. What kind of behavior is this?” Annor Dompreh asked.

The Chief Whip demanded that the Majority Leadership ensure the Minister appears without further delay, warning that continued disregard for parliamentary procedure could attract stronger resistance from the Minority side.

This latest outburst adds to growing concerns within the House about ministerial absenteeism and the broader implications for oversight and governance.
