The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has called for innovative and dynamic strategies to increase patronage at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.

She emphasized the need to present Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s legacy in ways that resonate with modern audiences while remaining true to his core values and vision.

“As a proud admirer of Dr. Nkrumah and what he stood for, I believe there are creative ways to revisit and reinterpret his ideals so they remain relevant to current and future generations,” the Minister stated. “The park must be a living, breathing space where the spirit of the Black Star continues to inspire.”

Hon. Gomashie made these remarks during a working meeting with the Acting Executive Director of the park, Dr. Collins Rawlings Nunyoname, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in Accra. The engagement provided the Minister with a comprehensive update on the park’s operations and highlighted key challenges requiring ministerial attention.

Dr. Nunyoname briefed the Minister on the park’s current management, hurdles, and strategies being developed to elevate the visitor experience while safeguarding its historical essence. Their discussion also explored ways to enhance the park’s financial sustainability and contribute to the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.

He outlined plans for introducing immersive cultural programs and interactive exhibits to make Ghana’s history and Nkrumah’s influence more accessible and engaging. These initiatives, he said, are aimed at transforming the memorial into a vibrant cultural hub and a leading tourist destination for both Ghanaians and international visitors.

Hon. Gomashie endorsed the proposed initiatives and reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to supporting the park’s transformation. She noted that revitalizing the memorial is crucial to preserving national heritage and strengthening Ghana’s tourism industry.

By reimagining the presentation of Nkrumah’s legacy, the Ministry hopes to ensure that the park not only honours Ghana’s founding father but also serves as a source of continuous inspiration for generations to come.
