Minister of Roads and Highways addresses Suaman MP’s concerns over poor road conditions

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has provided updates on the progress of road maintenance projects in the Suaman Dadieso Constituency and efforts being made by contractors to improve the roads.

He made these remarks during a parliamentary sitting on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in response to a query raised by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Suaman Dadieso Constituency, Fredrick Addy, regarding the poor state of roads in his constituency.

Affirming the progress, the minister stated that the Juaboso to Dadieso Road construction is currently underway, sharing specific details.

“Juaboso to Dadieso Road has a total length of 51 kilometres (km), 21 km from Juaboso to Amoagya and 15 km from Kalo to Dadieso and it’s a surface-dressed road. The remaining 16 km section between Kalo and Amoagya is gravel surface.

“Current programme: the project was awarded under the contract titled ‘rehabilitation of Juaboso Dadieso road km 0 to 39’; the contract commenced on 15th January, 2021, for completion on 20th June, 2023. The contractor is currently on site and work is progressing speedily; the contractor has so far achieved 53% of physical progress,” he stated.

Elaborating further, he provided background updates on the Akontombra to Dadieso Road project, including the contract commencement date and the funding source.

“Akontombra to Dadieso background; this road is 22.3 km, in the Akontombra District and Akontombra is in Suaman District in the Western North Region. Part of this road joins national road N12 at Okaso and connects Akontombra to Dadieso in Kalo.

“Current programme: there’s a contract titled ‘construction of Akontombra to Dadieso km 46.3 and Awaso-Asowinso junction’ under the funding of COCOBOD. The contract commenced on 17th November, 2021 to be completed in November, 2022. Current physical completion is 20%,” he added.
