A 14-year-old Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidate has tragically passed away at Kwahu Praso in the Kwahu South Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The deceased, identified as Jennifer Osei Nyamah, was a pupil of Kwahu Praso Preparatory School.

The heartbreaking incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, June 12, 2025, the second day of the ongoing nationwide examination.

According to her father, Gordon Osei, Jennifer had complained of a headache before the start of the exams on Wednesday, June 11.

Despite her condition, she managed to complete that day’s papers and was subsequently taken to a nearby clinic for treatment.

In an adomonline.come report on June 12,2025, it said her condition, however, deteriorated overnight, leading to an emergency transfer to the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Municipal Education Director, Williams Frimpong, described the incident as devastating.

He offered his condolences to the bereaved family and encouraged other candidates to remain focused and complete their examinations.

Some of Jennifer’s classmates expressed deep sorrow and shock over her sudden passing, the report indicated.

Teachers at the school have since urged the pupils to stay calm and composed in spite of the tragedy.
