In a momentous ceremony held at the Airport View Hotel in Accra, on June 12, 2025, Bishop Samuel Ben Owusu was officially appointed as the African Union Agenda 2063 Ambassadorial Assembly Ambassador and Special Envoy to Ghana.

The prestigious event, organised under the auspices of the Africa Union Agenda 2063 Ambassadorial Assembly, brought together dignitaries, diplomats, traditional leaders, civil society actors, and members of the press to witness this historic occasion.

Bishop Sam Owusu, widely respected for his leadership in peacebuilding, humanitarianism, and governance advocacy across the continent, was lauded for his unwavering commitment to the vision of a united, prosperous, and peaceful Africa.

His new role positions him at the forefront of driving national alignment with Agenda 2063, the African Union’s strategic framework for inclusive and sustainable development over the next four decades.

In his acceptance speech, Bishop Sam Owusu emphasized the urgency of turning vision into reality.

“Agenda 2063 is more than a roadmap — it is the heartbeat of Africa’s future. I am deeply honored to serve in this capacity and commit to ensuring Ghana takes a lead role in implementing policies that reflect the aspirations of our people, especially our youth and women,” he stated.

He further noted, “I am not going to do this alone. To realize the full potential of Agenda 2063 in Ghana, I will need the support of individuals, corporate bodies, and organizations across all sectors. This is a shared journey, and together, we can build the Africa we all envision.”

Representatives from the AU Agenda 2063 Ambassadorial Assembly Commission commended Ghana for its ongoing commitment to the continental vision and expressed confidence in Bishop Sam.

Owusu’s capacity to catalyze national action in line with key goals, including industrialization, cultural renaissance, regional integration, and good governance.

The event also featured a symbolic presentation of the Agenda 2063 Charter, cultural displays, and remarks from other AU Ambassadors who reaffirmed their solidarity and shared commitment to the Pan-African agenda.

Bishop Sam Owusu’s appointment is expected to accelerate partnerships between government institutions, private sector actors, and civil society in advancing the seven aspirations of Agenda 2063, particularly in the realms of peace, prosperity, and people-centered governance.

As Ghana celebrates this high-level recognition, attention now turns to how Dr. Owusu’s leadership will mobilize resources, policy support, and grassroots participation toward making the “Africa We Want” not just a slogan — but a living, thriving reality.
