Water, do we drinking enough in Ghana

Water
Is an organic compound with the chemical formula H 2O. It is a transparent tasteless, odorless, and nearly colorless chemical substance. It is the main constituent of the earth’s hydrosphere and the fluids of all known living organisms. Falls from clouds as rain, that forms streams, lakes, seas and that is used for drinking and washing and cooking.

Water is vital to our health. It plays a key role in many of our body’s funtucion, including bringing nutrients to cells, getting rid of waste, protecting joints and organs, and maintaining body temperature.

Water is an essential requirement for life on earth because it functions as a solvent. It is capable of solving substances and enabling key chemical reactions in animal, plant and microbial cells. Its chemical and physical properties allow it to dissolve more substances than most other liquids.

The average percentage of water in a person’s body is around 60%, the percentage can vary from roughly 45% to 75% for example babies have a high percentage of water in their bodies, which decreases with age. Also fatty tissue contains less water than muscle, so the percentage of water can vary with body type.

In 2021, over 2 billion people live in water stressed countries, which is expected to be exacerbated in some regions as result of climate change and population growth. In 2022, globally at least 1.7 billion people use a drinking water source contamination with feaces. Microbial contamination of drinking water as a result of contamination with faeces poses the greatest risk to drinking water safety.

In Ghana 76% of households are at risk of drinking water that is contaminated with faeces matter. Moreover only 4% of the household treat water suitably before drinking and 93 % of household do not treat water at all. Deforestation and illegal gold mining further exacerbate the problem by further polluting the limited water supply75% of the water population, or about 23 million people, use water that may not follow sanitary standards. This would mean that only 3.9 million people in Ghana can access water that is safe.

Groundwater quality is generally good throughout Ghana, but gold mining belts in the north and southwest are contaminated by heavy metals and naturally high fluoride contaminates drinking water in Ghana and posing health risks.

According to the 2021 population and housing census, about 37% of 8.3 million households in Ghana consume packaged sachet water as their main sources of drinking water. The represents a quadruple increase from 9% in 2010

Safe and sufficient water facilitates the practice of hygiene, which is a key measure to prevent not only diarrhea diseases, but acute respiratory infections and numerous neglected tropical diseases. Microbiologically contaminated drinking water can transmit diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid and polio and is estimated to cause approximately.

Benefit of water
Improved digestion, proper digestion is vital for extracting nutrients from the food we eat, Weight management, Flushing out toxins, Radiant skin, Energy boost, Cognitive clarity, Muscle function, help prevent and treat headaches and rain function, help treat kidney stone and prevent hangovers.

In a country where waterborne diseases result in over 100,000 deaths annually, we don’t need to emphasize why there is an urgent need for a water purifier in every household. We need to ensure that our homes and workplace are fitted with an electric water purifier for sale and clean water. Effective water purification methods that have stood the test of time;

Boiling Water Purifier Reverse Osmosis Water Chlorination Distillation Iodine Addition Solar Purifier

Hajia Sala 60 year’s old, Sales table waters at Asawasie market in Kumasi. Says her customers patronize table water once they have occasions, funeral and personal used.

Recommendation
Dr.Osborn Boatang specializes in internal medicine, Manhyia Government Hospital, Kumasi. Advice that Consumption of water needs more then 8 cups (64 ounces) a day. Despite the number of the 8 glasses of water a day rule to maintain your water balance, in most cased males typically need about 15.5 cups (124 ounces) while females typically need 11.5cups (92 ounces) of water per day. Say a study has shown that the average drinking water consumption ranges between 0.075 and 3 liter per day for adult with both national and regional differences. Likewise at the hospital you have IV fluid formulated liquid that is injected into vein to prevent or treat dehydration. Intravenous rehydration is a simple, safe and common procedure with a low risk of complications.
