The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, has cautioned members of the party not to make money their main objective in politics.
According to him, the NDC does not support the behaviour where members enrich themselves and acquire properties overnight when the party is in power—at the expense of the Ghanaian people.
Speaking to some party members in a video shared on social media, the NDC chief scribe said such individuals should rather align themselves with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with having property, but I’m saying if your motive and your reason for being a member of this party is what you can get, then you are in the wrong party. Look for the NPP—that is your party,” he said.
“You need to understand who we are. They are in a hurry to own properties that people have worked for 30 years and still don’t have. In a hurry to drive vehicles that ministers who have worked for years don’t have. They think by joining this party, they will get an opportunity to make something for themselves,” he added.
Meanwhile, the John Mahama-led NDC government has implemented Operation Recover All Loots to clamp down on the misappropriation of state funds by government officials.
President John Dramani Mahama has vowed that appointees in his government will be held to the same standards as those in the previous NPP administration.
