The Automobile Assemblers Association of Ghana (AAAG) is calling for stronger policy backing to accelerate growth and position the country as a leading automotive hub in West Africa.

Speaking at the 2025 Ghana Automotive Summit, the President of the Association, Jeffery Oppong Peprah, emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive national strategy that supports the development of a full automotive value chain from local component manufacturing to large-scale vehicle assembly.

“A clear and coordinated strategy is essential if we are to build a thriving industry capable of serving not just Ghana, but the entire West African region,”Mr. Peprah said.

He also urged government to expedite the rollout of a component manufacturing policy to complement current efforts in vehicle assembly, noting that this would create jobs, attract investment, and stimulate broader economic growth.

In a show of alignment with the government’s broader economic plans, Mr. Peprah expressed the association’s support for the 24-hour economy initiative, which aims to promote round-the-clock economic activity across key sectors.

“With the right policy framework in place, Ghana can emerge as a true automotive hub for the sub-region,” he added.

The annual summit brought together key industry players, policymakers, and international investors to discuss the future of Ghana’s automotive industry and the strategic role it can play in the country’s industrial transformation.
