Sangu Delle mobilises support for victims of violent rainstorm in Nandom Municipality

In the aftermath of a violent rainstorm that tore through communities in the Ko zone of the Nandom Municipality, renowned philanthropist and development advocate, Dr. Sangu Delle, has pledged immediate and long-term support for affected families through the Sangu Delle Foundation.

The storm, which struck on Friday, June 13, wreaked havoc in Tuopare, Guo, and surrounding areas, leaving destruction in its wake. Scores of homes were destroyed, schools and churches damaged, and market stalls flattened.

Many residents have been left without shelter, while critical infrastructure, including electricity poles and power lines, was also severely affected, plunging several communities into darkness.

In a heartfelt statement, Dr. Delle, who holds the traditional title of Maalu Naa, expressed sorrow over the extent of damage and the suffering of residents.

“My heart is heavy as I have just been briefed on the destruction caused by the rainstorm that hit Tuopare, Guo, and other communities in the Ko zone of Nandom. I am told homes have been ripped apart, schools and churches damaged, market stalls flattened, and countless families left without shelter or basic necessities,” he said.

Despite the gravity of the situation, Dr. Delle commended the resilience of the Nandom people and emphasized the importance of unity and swift action.

“As always, Nandom has shown its strength through solidarity. And I want to assure our people that we will not walk this path alone,” he added.

To this end, the Sangu Delle Foundation is mobilising emergency relief to support the displaced. Dr. Delle further pledged funds and resources toward rebuilding homes, restoring damaged schools, and ensuring that the dignity of affected families is upheld.

He extended a call to individuals and organisations willing to help, urging them to reach out with financial, material, or volunteer support.

“This is the time for unity and compassion in action. Let us rise from this tragedy stronger, more resilient, and more determined to build a future where no family has to fear the next storm,” he concluded.

Residents and local leaders have welcomed the commitment, describing it as a timely intervention that brings hope amidst despair.

The Municipal Assembly and disaster management agencies are yet to release a full assessment of the damage, but preliminary reports indicate extensive losses across the affected areas.
