The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, is penned down as a special guest speaker at the 2025 Ghana-China Business Summit on the sub-theme “Maximising Trade Potential: Fostering Ghana-China Partnerships for Industrial Growth and Economic Development.”

The general theme for the summit slated for June 23rd to June 28th is “Synergising opportunities: Strengthening the Ghana-China business relationship and fostering a 24-hour economy.”

President John Dramani Mahama is set to open the premier Ghana-China Business Summit on Monday, June 23rd, to set the tone for the summit.

In a statement issued by the Communication Department of the Ghana China Business Summit secretariat, the Trade Minister will focus on trade agreements and tariffs, industrial development, agribusiness and value chain development, and investment promotion.

According to the statement, Mrs Ofosu-Adjare will emphasise opportunities for Ghana and China to negotiate and implement trade agreements and reduce tariffs and non-tariff barriers, increasing bilateral trade.

The Trade Minister will also use the platform to analyse the potential for Ghana-China partnerships in industrial development and emphasise collaborations to develop and strengthen agribusiness value chains, improving the efficiency and competitiveness of Ghana’s agricultural sector.

Mrs Ofosu-Adjare will also throw light on opportunities for Ghana to attract Chinese investment in key sectors.

In addition to the Trade Minister, Dr Toni Aubynn, the Chief Executive Officer, Petroleum Hub Development Corporation will speak on the sub-theme “Harnessing Synergies in Energy and Infrastructure: Ghana’s Petroleum Hub as a Catalyst for Ghana-China Economic Cooperation”.

Dr Aubynn will leverage petroleum refining and petrochemicals, energy infrastructure development, technology transfer and capacity building, partnerships to enhance local capacity and expertise in the energy sector, and investment opportunities.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Hub will use the platform to also share insight on refining capacity, petrochemical production and storage facilities; joint ventures in building jetties, port infrastructure and road networks to support the petroleum hub; and explore potential investment avenues in the petroleum hub project.

Mr Farihan Alhassan, Managing Director of GCB Bank, will speak on the sub-theme “Financing Growth: Leveraging Ghana-China Banking Partnership to Strengthen Business Cooperation”.

The Summit will provide a platform for players in the banking sector opportunities to explore potential collaborations with Chinese companies.

By leveraging Chinese expertise and investment, players in the banking explore trade finance solutions, investment financing, payment systems and digital banking, and risk management to support the government’s BIG PUSH Agenda.

The summit is being organised by the Government of Ghana through the office of the Chief of Staff, in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in Ghana, Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and the Foreign Affairs Ministries of Shandong and Beijing.

Other partners are Perfect World Company Limited (PWCL), Sino Africa Group, Communication for Development and Advocacy Consult (CDA Consult), Lifeline Haven Company Limited, Petroleum Hub Development Corporation, Ghana Exim Bank, and Fidelity Bank.

Meanwhile, Mr Dennis Anderson, PWCL Chief Executive Officer and Summit Coordinator, explained that over 70 top Chief Executive Officers of prominent Chinese SOEs and Ghanaian Investors, entrepreneurs, business owners and corporate leaders from both the public and private sectors will participate.

He said the summit offers the platform for both countries to explore strategic investment and business opportunities, foster partnerships, and particularly for China to leverage Ghana’s strategic position to access the West African market and deepen collaboration between the two nations.

Mr Anderson also emphasises that it will also offer an opportunity for governmental officials to throw significant light on the government’s BIG PUSH agenda, with the goal of driving economic growth and development in Ghana’s 24-hour economy.

He said the Chinese Ambassador, H. E. Tong-Defa; Mr Chen Xiaowei, Group Chairman, Sino-Africa Group; and the Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah, are among the distinguished high-profile personalities who will grace the summit.
