Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, have safely touched down in Ben Slimane, Morocco, for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The team reached their training base in the early hours of Tuesday, June 17, following their departure from the Kotoka International Airport in the morning.

Earlier this week, head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren announced a 24-woman preliminary squad for the tournament to be held in Morocco next month.

Not all the players have arrived in Ben Slimane to begin preparations, but the team is expecting a full roster in the coming days.

The Black Queens are in Group C for the tournament, where they are paired with defending champions South Africa, Mali and Tanzania.

After a series of friendly matches under new coach Kim Lars, the Black Queens will look to kick-start their campaign on a good note as they pursue their first-ever WAFCON title.

The rescheduled 2024 WAFCON starts on July 5 with the final set for July 26.
