The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has opened the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (CIHRM) 2025 Conference at the Alisa hotel, Ridge, Accra, on June 18, 2025.

The two-day conference, under the theme: Regulating HRM in Ghana: Standards, Ethics and Sustainability, drew over 500 HR Practitioners, academia and policy makers to uncover critical conversations about how Human Resource Management (HRM) in Ghana can evolve into a well-regulated, ethical and sustainable profession that support both organizational excellence and national development.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the CIHRM conference, Mr. Iddrisu charged CIHRM members to take an interest in the laws Parliament passes with their inputs.

According to him, the CIHRM ACT (2010) LI 2472 is to regulate the practice of Human Resource Management in the country.

He noted that if we invest well in education, we are investing in the future of our country.

“The government is reviewing our educational curriculum with the introduction of Ethics and Integrity into the new curriculum, to train our students. Unethical behavior denies us the resources needed for development”, Haruna Iddrisu hinted.

In her welcome address, the President of CIHRM, Florence Hutchful said, it is imperative that managers not only set but also lead in upholding high ethical standards within their organisations.

She revealed that during the Council’s interactions with some Ministers of State and senior government officials, credible concerns came up around punctuality, productivity and some instances of unethical behavior in some organisations, where some female employees are subjected to all forms of harassment and abuse.
