Ahead of an official visit from His Majesty the King of Eswatini, hosted by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has announced a region-wide clean-up exercise scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2025.

Under the leadership of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, this initiative aims to promote environmental cleanliness, improve sanitation, and enhance public health across all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies within the Ashanti Region. This marks the third region-wide clean-up effort since the minister assumed office earlier this year, following successful events on Ghana’s Independence Day (March 6, 2025) and during the AshantiFest festivities (April 12, 2025).

The ARCC’s efforts extend beyond the clean-up exercise. With support from the Regional NADMO Directorate, the Council has also been actively desilting flood-prone areas throughout May and early June, proactively mitigating the risk of flooding during the rainy season to protect lives and property.

Dr Frank Amoakohene emphasised the vital role of community participation, urging all residents, assembly members, civil society groups, and traditional leaders to join forces in making the region cleaner and safer.

“We must continue to uphold the image of the Ashanti Region as the heartbeat of Ghana,” he stated. “Cleanliness is not only a civic responsibility but a foundation for public health and development.”

The ARCC has assured that necessary logistics and coordination mechanisms are in place to support all assemblies in the successful execution of the clean-up exercise, ensuring the Ashanti Region presents a clean and dignified environment befitting the upcoming royal visit.
