[VIDEO] Christians hardly vote for Muslim leaders, that’s a fact – Stephen Amoah

Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso Constituency, Stephen Amoah has stirred national conversation with a bold statement on religion, politics, and natural resources, emphasizing the need for Ghanaians, particularly Christians, to confront biases against Muslims, especially in matters of leadership.

In a passionate address, he asserted that Muslims are equally God’s people, pointing to the abundance of oil in predominantly Muslim regions around the world as divine evidence.

“God is real, don’t deceive yourself. Whether heaven or hell, there’s God. And truly, practically, all over the world where you find Muslims a lot, we have oil. Am I lying? So who can say Muslims are not from God?” he said.

His comments come amid rising concerns about religious prejudice in Ghana’s political landscape, particularly the perception that Christian voters are reluctant to support Muslim presidential candidates.

“Whether we like it or not, Christians hardly want to vote for a Muslim leader. It is a fact,” he stated plainly, urging citizens to reflect rather than pretend such sentiments don’t exist.

Stephen Amoah also revealed that prior to a past national election, some Christian leaders were involved in covert efforts to sway opinions, including the creation of a WhatsApp platform aimed at countering a potential Muslim candidate.

“Some pastors had actually set up WhatsApp platforms before the election. We all know, why are we lying to ourselves?” he questioned. “Even though I disagree with them, it was a fact.”

He urged Ghanaians to acknowledge such uncomfortable truths in order to confront and fix systemic issues, rather than deny them.

“Acknowledge yourself and your problem, but we can find solutions to them, rather than saying that… and your problem,” he concluded, albeit cryptically.
