‘Be patient, we’re putting food on fire’ — Mustapha Gbande tells NDC grassroots complaining of neglect

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has appealed to the party’s grassroots supporters to exercise patience as the leadership works to establish the structures necessary for effective governance.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM, Gbande addressed growing frustration among some supporters, particularly those expressing concerns on social media about being sidelined after helping the party return to power.

“I want to tell our grassroot people and of course we have led them to win this election, it is too early in the day for us to feel that people have been left out. You have to cook before you eat. If food is not put in the pot and placed on fire there will not be food to eat at the end of the day,” he said.

Gbande emphasised that the government is still in the process of laying its foundation, and like any administration, it requires time to fully roll out its agenda. He pointed out that previous governments also took months to complete appointments and administrative structures.

He assured supporters that once the necessary systems are in place, the leadership will work to ensure that those who contributed to the party’s victory, especially at the grassroots level, are not forgotten.

His remarks come amid increasing calls for inclusivity and recognition from the rank-and-file of the NDC, many of whom feel that their sacrifices during the campaign must be acknowledged.
