The Vice Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Akatsi South, Anthony Solo Adotevi, has taken a jab at the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing them of acting more like “community watchdogs” than a constructive opposition party.
In a light-hearted yet pointed comment circulating on social media, Adotevi expressed concern over what he described as the NPP’s “every-hour press conferences and press releases,” saying it reflects a party more interested in sensationalism than offering real alternatives or policy scrutiny.
“Eiiiii the NPPians have become Community Watch Dogs 🐕 🤣🤣🤣. That’s great for our democracy anyway. JAH alone is a Christian. Good morning to you all,” Adotevi posted.
While the humorous tone drew laughter from supporters online, the underlying message was clear; the NDC stalwart believes the NPP’s approach to opposition is reactive and chaotic rather than strategic and responsible.
This comment follows a series of daily press engagements by the NPP in recent weeks, where they have raised issues ranging from alleged corruption to economic hardship and government mismanagement.
However, according to Adotevi, these frequent media appearances lack depth and are not grounded in credible facts.
He urged the NPP to play a more mature and responsible role as the main opposition, stressing that democracy thrives not just on critique, but on constructive alternatives and nation-first dialogue.
“Being in opposition doesn’t mean barking at every shadow. Ghanaians are watching and they can tell who truly has the nation at heart,” Adotevi later added in an interview.
