Tamale: New couple killed in accident hours after wedding ceremony

A joyful wedding celebration turned into a heartbreaking tragedy when a newlywed couple lost their lives in a fatal road accident just hours after their marriage ceremony.

The couple, who tied the knot over the weekend, were reportedly traveling to Gurugu in the early hours of Monday, June 23, 2025, where the groom had secured a new apartment for them. Their journey was cut short when they were struck by an unregistered vehicle.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the vehicle was occupied by Nigerian nationals who fled the scene immediately after the collision. Authorities are currently working to trace the occupants of the vehicle.

The lifeless bodies of the couple were transported to the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue at approximately 2:50 AM.

Photos from the crash site reveal the devastating extent of the impact, with the vehicle involved sustaining significant damage, underscoring the severity of the collision that claimed the lives of the newlyweds.

The tragic incident has cast a dark cloud over what should have been the couple’s happiest moment, leaving family, friends, and the community in shock and mourning.
