The University of Ghana School of Law has publicly expressed its deep appreciation to businessman and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama for his recent donation of concrete materials toward the construction of its new academic complex.

Announced on Monday, June 23, 2025, the contribution marks a key milestone in the School’s ongoing efforts to expand its facilities and enhance its capacity for legal education, research, and scholarship.

The donation was made through Dzata Cement, a company owned by Mr. Mahama, with logistical and technical support from Engineers and Planners, another of his firms. The materials are expected to significantly accelerate the pace of work on the new complex, which is set to address long-standing infrastructure challenges at the institution.

“Huge applause for Mr. Ibrahim Mahama. We are grateful for your support in enhancing our building complex at the University of Ghana School of Law. Thank you for your commitment to our community,” the School stated in a public message of gratitude.

Mr. Mahama’s gesture is part of his broader commitment to supporting educational advancement across Ghana. In recent years, he has made similar contributions to tertiary institutions as part of his effort to promote national development through access to quality infrastructure in higher learning.

The new UGSoL complex, once completed, will provide expanded lecture halls, research facilities, faculty offices, and student study areas, easing congestion and fostering a more modern academic environment.

The donation has drawn widespread praise on social media, with many commentators commending Mr. Mahama for setting an example of how the private sector can play a meaningful role in advancing public education.
