The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with accounting firm KPMG to strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors.

The agreement, signed on Tuesday in Accra, aims to improve planning, implementation, and monitoring of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Ghana.

Under the MoU, the NDPC and KPMG will work together in areas such as resource mobilization, local economic development, and capacity building.

The Chairman of NDPC, Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, stated that the partnership will bring private sector expertise to support evidence-based decision-making and help Ghana achieve its SDG targets.

He noted that the agreement includes training NDPC staff to analyze financial reports of companies listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange.

“This skill will enable staff to evaluate the performance of both state-owned and private enterprises, allowing them to provide data-driven recommendations to the President on key economic sectors,” he added

On his part, the Head of Advisory at KPMG, Mr. Kwame Sarpong Barnieh, welcomed the partnership and pledged the firm’s commitment to sustainable development in Ghana.

He said the MoU aligns with KPMG’s goal of supporting national progress through its expertise. He praised the NDPC for the collaboration, which he said will amplify their role in Ghana’s development.

The agreement marks a step forward in leveraging private sector knowledge to advance the country’s development agenda.
