Thomas Partey to leave Arsenal as free agent Black Stars deputy captain and Arsenal star Thomas Partey is set to leave the North London based club as a free agent following the expiration of his contract at the end of June.

Partey’s contract with the Gunners runs out on June 30, having joined the side in 2020 from Atletico Madrid on a five-year deal. The two parties have reportedly failed to reach an agreement over a contract extension with the Ghanaian now more out than in at the London Club.

Despite Partey’s injury-plagued past seasons, he had a standout campaign last term, making 51 appearances across all competitions – a personal best since joining the club. Partey, 31, was instrumental in Arsenal’s push for glory in the Premier League and first UEFA Champions League semi finals appearance since 2009.

Reports suggest Arsenal have already begun moves to replace the midfielder, with ongoing talks with Brentford over a potential deal for Christian Nørgaard or Lucien Agoume from Seville. Arsenal’s summer squad reshuffle ahead of the 2025/26 season as they look to clinch their first Premier League title since 2004.

He is expected to make a high-profile move to Saudi Arabia, although other top European clubs such as FC Barcelona have shown interest in getting his signature and a potential return to Atletico Madrid.
