Polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, and constituency leaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Volta Region have thrown their weight behind Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong to lead the party into the 2028 presidential elections.
The endorsement was made public during a press conference held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the Pensioners’ Hall in Ho, the regional capital. The group said their decision was driven by a collective determination to see the NPP reclaim political power and believed Acheampong was the right man to lead that effort.
According to Thelma Chriastabel Adzimah, the Ho Central Constituency Women’s Organiser, “Looking at the other candidates, we don’t see the power in them. Bryan Acheampong is the only one the grassroots relies on to deliver victory in 2028, we are very hungry for power.”
Describing Bryan Acheampong as a responsive and grounded leader, the group praised him for his connection to the party’s base and his willingness to act in the public interest. They cited his withdrawal from a controversial state property acquisition deal as a clear indication of his attentiveness to national concerns.
“He is a listener. That decision showed he respects public opinion. Ghanaians want a president who listens,” she noted.
Adzimah also pointed to his numerous contributions to community development, including the provision of boreholes, educational support, and agricultural inputs, as proof of his commitment to grassroots progress. She highlighted that Acheampong’s consistent presence and support, even during politically quiet periods, distinguish him from others.
She urged presidential hopefuls not to mistake endorsements from former appointees for grassroots support. “We, the base, have our own voice, and today we are speaking clearly.”
She also called on national party executives to guarantee a fair, transparent, and inclusive internal election process, noting that the strength and survival of the NPP depend on active participation by its grassroots members.
“Tensions within the party after the 2023 primaries have not completely died down,” she observed. “Bryan Acheampong is the only one who can bring calm and unite all factions.”
She warned that sidelining the party’s base could have serious electoral consequences. “The real owners of the party are the polling station executives, foot soldiers, and constituency leaders who mobilize votes on the ground.”
Positioning Acheampong as a modern leader with a blend of technology and business acumen, the she described him as a hybrid of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Hon. Kennedy Agyapong. “He represents the future. He’s both an IT expert and business-oriented. He brings the strengths of both leaders into one.”
She ended the statement with a firm declaration of their preference: “He is our choice, our hope, and our trusted leader. The future of the party depends on us, and we choose Bryan Acheampong.”
The statement was signed by the Concerned Polling Station Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators, and Constituency Executives of the NPP in the Volta Region.
