The Deputy Minister for the Interior, Mr. Ebenezer Terlabi, has called for collaboration with the Chinese government in the development of security infrastructure, surveillance and digital systems, cybersecurity, and digital forensics.

Speaking at the Ghana-China Business Summit on Thursday in Accra, he emphasised the importance of security and infrastructure in facilitating investment and promoting economic growth.

He noted that Ghana’s 24-hour economy policy presents opportunities for Chinese investors in areas such as security infrastructure projects, surveillance and digital systems, cybersecurity, and digital forensics.

The Deputy Minister highlighted the strong foundation of Ghana-China cooperation in law enforcement, including training programs for Ghanaian police officers in China, as well as the donation of police vehicles and equipment.

He stated that prospects between Ghana and China could include the establishment of a Ghana-China Police Training Academy, localized assembly of policing technology, a Ghana-China Innovation Hub for Security Technology, and enhanced private sector involvement in infrastructure and logistics.

Mr. Terlabi invited Chinese partners to invest in Ghana’s security and infrastructure sectors, leveraging over seven decades of friendship between the two countries for mutual success.
