Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has hosted a high-level delegation of female Members of Parliament at the Presidency, in a strategic meeting focused on amplifying women’s voices in leadership and advancing gender equity across all levels of national governance.

The visit, which the MPs described as both symbolic and empowering, was not only a gesture of solidarity but also a moment to celebrate what they hailed as a “renewed atmosphere of inclusive and purposeful leadership” under the current administration.

The legislators commended Prof. Opoku-Agyemang for her historic role and the inspiration she continues to provide for women across the country. They pledged to remain steadfast in advocating for progressive policies that open more doors for women in politics, governance, and decision-making.

Central to their discussions was the Affirmative Action Bill—an overdue legislation they say must be passed without delay to ensure that women are fairly represented in national development efforts.

Vice President Opoku-Agyemang expressed deep appreciation for their show of support and congratulated the MPs for their consistent efforts in Parliament.

“We must extend the opportunities we have received to other aspiring women,” she said. “Let us offer mentorship and encouragement to help them rise. Our journey must inspire others to follow.”

She emphasized the urgency of building a culture of mentorship, where today’s female leaders actively create space for future generations. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also underscored the need for ongoing collaboration between government, civil society, and the private sector to advance President John Dramani Mahama’s transformative agenda—particularly in areas of gender inclusion, good governance, and sustainable development.

In closing, the Vice President urged the MPs to remain united and resilient, reinforcing the administration’s unwavering commitment to inclusive and visionary leadership.

The meeting marks a renewed call for institutional reform, collective advocacy, and intentional leadership to unlock the full potential of women in shaping Ghana’s democratic and developmental future.
