Grief and the Rise of Hope When It Feels Like It’s All Over

All Is Never Over. Still God. Still Standing: Grief and the Rise of Hope When It Feels Like It’s All Over

Ghanaians are some of the most hardworking, resilient and inventive people on the continent. From the bustling markets of Makola to the vibrant farms of the north, people rise before dawn, carry burdens beyond their means, and stretch faith further than their finances. This isn’t laziness, this is perseverance without fair reward.

The tragedy isn’t in the people; it’s in the system that keeps failing them. When leadership lacks vision, citizens pay the price with missed opportunities, poor infrastructure and broken promises. But all is not over.

Ghanaians are people who refuse to give up. Even under economic pressure, they dream, build, hustle and believe in good days ahead. A new generation rising with bold questions and fresh ideas. Youth are no longer settling for slogans—they’re demanding substance. A nation full of potential that no bad leadership can erase. Natural resources, cultural brilliance and spiritual strength still run deep.

All is not over. “Though sorrow may last for a night, joy comes in the morning.” — Psalm 30:5

Ghana’s morning will come—not by magic, but by citizens who hold onto truth, speak up, and demand better.

Even in our lowest valleys, when life seems to collapse beneath the weight of injustice, betrayal, or heartbreak—God remains. Though grief may shake your voice and pain may cloud your vision, you are still here. Not by your own might, but by the quiet strength of a God who never sleeps on your struggle. Yes, God never sleeps on your pains and struggles.

Your struggles and pains are momentarily. God has not put a full stop to your life’s story.

Everything is just a comma, not the end. Yes, this isn’t the end. This is the turning point.

Still God. Still Standing. Not because all is fixed, but because grace still holds what life has tried to break. Hope is not gone. It’s gathering strength beneath your tears.

Ghana bleeds quietly—beneath the noise of political slogans and the glare of camera flashes. Not even figures like Hon. Afenyo-Markin can deny the abysmal record of leadership under President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. If every political party were to govern as they have, words might fail to describe the brokenness their legacy would leave behind.

What was meant to be public service to change lives has been turned into a “loot and share” scheme. People with little understanding of development defend the indefensible—not for progress, but for a political party. And so the country limps, while its leaders leap toward self-enrichment.

The streets echo with sorrow. Traders, market women, fathers, single mothers, orphans—they all cry for something deeper than survival. They cry for justice. They cry for dignity. But they’ve been politically deprived. The poor are imprisoned for petty crimes while the corrupt buy freedom with their connections. Is this not an uncomfortable reality? Those abandoned by the system become visible again only when votes are needed.

Honest and committed workers are crying. Owning a car as a worker like a teacher is impossible yet politicians count money in millions of dollars not even thousands of dollars. Justice wears party colors. The police serve power, not people. The very air in Ghana feels heavy with hopelessness.

Yet—there is One who never gives up on His people.

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” — Isaiah 40:29

Even the prophet Elijah—fresh from calling fire from heaven—hit a wall. He collapsed beneath a broom tree, drained and disheartened. But God didn’t scold him. He didn’t abandon him. He sent rest, an angel with food, and a whisper of reassurance.

So yes, Ghana is tired. But being tired does not mean we are finished.

You may see yourself running and not moving. Hoping, but unraveling. But you are not forgotten. The God who strengthened Elijah still strengthens those who kneel beneath despair. He stands beside the weary, lifts the brokenhearted, and whispers life into those who can no longer shout.

Before you give up in anything, give it to Him. Your knees may shake, but you are still standing—for He still reigns.

God has not failed before— why are you worrying about failure? “The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.” — Psalm 145:13 Example: When Peter walked on water, he began to sink only when he focused on the storm, not Christ. Like Peter, our worry arises when we forget God’s record of faithfulness.

God is not worried about anything— why are you worried? “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7. Example: While the disciples panicked in a storm, Jesus slept peacefully in the boat (Mark 4:38). God is not shaken—He invites us into His peace.

God has not been intimidated by any power or force— why are you afraid? “If God is for us, who can be against us?” — Romans 8:31 Example: David faced Goliath not with fear, but with confidence in God’s might. Our giants may look different, but His strength remains the same.

God is never fearful — why are you fearful? “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.” — Psalm 23:4 Example: Daniel entered the lions’ den not knowing the outcome, but trusting God’s sovereignty. Faith is not the absence of fear, but confidence in God’s presence.

God is not confused — why are you doubting? “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5 Example: Abraham followed God without knowing where he was going (Hebrews 11:8). Faith walks even when the path isn’t clear.

God does not grow tired on you— why are you giving up?”He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” — Isaiah 40:29 Example: Elijah, after calling fire from heaven, became exhausted and wanted to die. Yet God restored him with rest and purpose (1 Kings 19).

God is not late in your life— why are you rushing? “The vision is yet for an appointed time… though it tarry, wait for it.” — Habakkuk 2:3 Example: Lazarus had been dead for four days before Jesus arrived—but the delay revealed a greater miracle (John 11).

God is not silent on you — why are you anxious? “Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10 Example: Sometimes, heaven is quiet—not absent. Job found answers not in God’s silence, but in His eventual presence.

God is not limited to anything impossible — why are you limiting yourself? “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” — Genesis 18:14 Example: A barren Sarah laughed at the promise of a son. But God reminded her: His power is not bound by human limits.

God has not changed his time and purpose — why are you losing hope? “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8 Example: What He did for Moses, Hannah, and Paul—He still does. His methods may shift, but His heart doesn’t.

God has not failed you — why are you crying? “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.” — Psalm 126:5 Example: Hagar wept in the wilderness, but God saw her and provided water and hope for her son (Genesis 21:19).

God has not cursed you — why are you living with shame? “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law…” — Galatians 3:13 Through Christ, we’ve been released from condemnation. You are not under a curse—you are under grace.

God has not rejected you — why are you feeling unwanted? “Whoever comes to me I will never drive away.” — John 6:37 No matter your past, He receives you with open arms. His acceptance is unconditional.

God has not forsaken you — why are you feeling abandoned? “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” — Hebrews 13:5 Even in silence or delay, God is with you. Always present. Always near.

God has forgiven your sins — why are you still doubting? “If we confess our sins… He will forgive and cleanse us.” — 1 John 1:9 You don’t have to keep reliving what God has already released. Forgiveness is finished work.

God has loved, washed, sanctified and justified you — why are you looking back? Never look back, that is not your direction. Look forward. “But you were washed… you were sanctified… you were justified…” — 1 Corinthians 6:11 Your identity is renewed. Your past has no power unless you hand it the pen.

God is your comforter and strength — why are you anxious? “The Lord is my strength… whom shall I fear?” — Psalm 27:1 When you’re weak, His strength carries you. When you’re hurting, His Spirit wraps you in peace.

Fear Not—You’re Covered. Again I say, God has already spoken: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God…” — John 14:1. He doesn’t just urge you to stay calm—He gives you every reason to. Trust in His character, not in the chaos.

Yes, the enemy will design weapons: disgrace, poverty, sickness, injustice. Yes, corrupt leaders may abuse power, bend systems, and laugh at the suffering of the righteous. But they will not prevail. We’re not shaken by their schemes. We’re not afraid of what darkness they attempt to unleash. We’re not trapped by what they’ve formed—we’re covered by who formed us. Yes,“No weapon formed against you shall prosper…” — Isaiah 54:17

Let them form it. Let them plan it. Let them whisper and conspire. Their weapons may form—but they will fail. Not because of our strength, but because of His shielding. We are hidden under the shadow of the Almighty.

We are not forgotten. Not cursed. Not alone. We are chosen, held, forgiven and empowered. So, keep walking—not because you feel strong, but because your steps are ordered. Keep believing—not because the world is fair, but because God is faithful. Keep standing—not because you never fall, but because He always lifts.

You’re still here. Still standing. Still His. And that means, you’ve already won because the battle of life is always the Lord’s. God bless you.
