Former GIHOC MD Kofi Jumah arrested

Former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has been taken into custody by National Security operatives as part of an ongoing probe into suspected financial malfeasance during his tenure at the state-owned distillery.

The arrest took place on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Mr. Jumah’s residence in Kumasi, where plainclothes operatives reportedly arrived and requested to speak with him. He was later transported in a pick-up vehicle to the Ashanti Regional Police Command, where he remains in custody for questioning.

This development follows an earlier operation on May 15, during which security personnel attempted to retrieve government vehicles allegedly still in Mr. Jumah’s possession. At the time, he was not present at the residence, and the operation was reportedly inconclusive.

The former GIHOC boss is being probed over alleged financial irregularities, including the unauthorised sale of company property and questionable acquisitions of official vehicles under his administration.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement, but insiders suggest that the matter is being treated with urgency, and more details will be made public as investigations progress.

Mr. Jumah, a prominent figure in NPP, has not yet responded publicly to the arrest or the allegations against him.
