More than 250 traders in Axim benefited from a free health screening exercise organised by ASA Savings and Loans last Friday, June 27, 2025.

The event, held at the Axim Business Centre (BC), forms part of the company’s ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts to promote wellness in the communities it serves.

Medical professionals from the Axim Government Hospital conducted thorough health consultations and provided necessary medications to participants. An optometrist was also on hand to assist traders presenting with eye conditions.

The screening covered a wide range of common ailments, including malaria, diabetes, hypertension, and typhoid, as well as routine checks on vital signs.

According to Richard Nartey, Sustainability Manager of ASA Savings and Loans, “The initiative forms part of the company’s social responsibility which not only sought to improve the immediate health of participants but also to lay a foundation of long-term health benefits.”

Mr. Francis Gyabeng, ASA’s Area Manager, reiterated the company’s dedication to supporting the health needs of its clients. “This exercise is targeted at raising awareness about managing chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes through glucose level and blood pressure monitoring,” he stated.

Mr. Michael Kesse, who led the team from the Axim Government Hospital, provided health education to attendees. He stressed the importance of early detection in managing long-term illnesses. “Early detection, he emphasized, helps one to have good control of a condition which can lower the risk of serious complications.”

One of the beneficiaries, Mary Krah, expressed her appreciation to ASA for organising the event. She said the initiative brought essential healthcare closer to them and called for more of such exercises in the future.

The event was hailed as a success by both health professionals and residents, reinforcing ASA’s commitment to the wellbeing of the communities it serves.
