Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has successfully wrapped up a high-level mission to China as part of efforts to advance the country’s ongoing debt restructuring process.

Sharing updates on his official social media pages, Dr. Forson revealed that the trip involved critical engagements with China’s Ministry of Finance, China Exim Bank, and major financial and contractor creditors.

He described the discussions as “constructive,” noting that they marked a meaningful step toward finalising negotiations aimed at easing Ghana’s debt burden.

“These talks are an important milestone in our broader push to restore economic stability, resolve our debt crisis, and protect the wellbeing of Ghanaians,” he stated.

According to the Finance Minister, the outcomes of the China mission have strengthened Ghana’s negotiating position and brought the country closer to turning the page on what he described as a “difficult chapter” in its economic history.

Dr. Forson reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a more resilient, inclusive, and stable economy as it works to secure a long-term recovery.
