Dada Joe Remix being extradited to the US over an alleged romance fraud scheme Dada Joe Remix being extradited to the US over an alleged romance fraud scheme

A video of embattled businessman Joseph Badu Boateng, popularly known as Dada Joe Remix, has surfaced online following his extradition to the United States over his alleged involvement in a romance fraud scheme estimated at over $100 million.

In the short clip, the popular business mogul is heard describing himself during an interview with JoyTwum Media.

Dada Joe Remix portrays himself as a businessman, philanthropist, humanitarian, God-fearing, and peace-loving.

“Daddy Joe — I am a businessman, philanthropist, and humanitarian. I feel sad when I see people struggling. I am God-fearing. I am not a violent person. I always stand for peace and unity,” he said.

Boateng was extradited to the United States on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, following his arrest in Ghana. He is accused of orchestrating a sophisticated romance fraud scheme that allegedly defrauded victims—primarily U.S. citizens—of over $100 million.

His extradition follows close collaboration between the U.S. Diplomatic Security Service (DSS), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Ghanaian law enforcement agencies.

According to U.S. prosecutors, Boateng and his network used fake online profiles—often posing as romantic partners—to manipulate victims into sending large sums of money under false pretenses, including fabricated inheritance claims and financial emergencies.

After months of investigations and international coordination, Ghanaian authorities arrested Boateng and others, facilitating his extradition to the United States, where he is now expected to stand trial.

Romance fraud is a growing form of global cybercrime that exploits victims’ emotional vulnerabilities, often resulting in significant financial loss. U.S. officials have raised concerns about the increasing involvement of West Africa-based networks in such operations, prompting deeper international cooperation to combat the threat.

Background

Dada Joe Remix was arrested in Ghana on May 28, 2025, following a formal extradition request from the U.S. government.

According to court documents, the FBI alleges that between 2013 and March 2023, Boateng and his associates defrauded elderly Americans by promising access to non-existent gold and jewelry. Victims were reportedly coerced into paying fictitious fees and taxes to facilitate the release of these items.

A grand jury indictment, unsealed on May 30, 2025, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, charges Boateng with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering.

Ghanaian authorities, citing obligations under the Extradition Act of 1960, worked closely with U.S. officials in a covert operation to facilitate his handover.

Boateng is now set to face prosecution in federal court in Arizona. If convicted, he could face substantial prison time.
