The newly-constructed ICT centre and three-unit classroom block
A new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre and three-unit classroom block have been commissioned for the Panpanso Krokese Junior High School in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The facilities, facilitated and built by the Blue Skies Foundation, comes with a staff common room with sanitary facilities.
The decision to construct the facility followed appeals from the school’s management and community members, who highlighted the challenges posed by the limited capacity of the existing six-unit classroom block.
The former structure struggled to accommodate pupils from kindergarten to junior high school, leading to congestion and the need for permanent solutions.
The Blue Skies Foundation, six months ago, responded swiftly to the concerns of the people by breaking the grounds for the construction of an ultra-modern three unit classroom block and ICT centre for the Junior High School aimed at enhancing effective teaching and learning.
After six months of the groundbreaking, works on the new facility has been completed with the old classrooms refurbished and handed-over to the school authority for use.
The new facility would complement the primary block, previously constructed by the Foundation, creating a complete educational structure for children to progress from kindergarten to junior high school.
In an interview with the press, Head of Foundation and Corporate Affairs of Blue Skies Products Ghana Limited, Alistair Djimatey noted that their intention is to help provide access to quality and modern-day education to the pupils in the community, regardless of where they are located.
Djimatey bemoaned how illegal sand winning is impacting the progress of agriculture and agro-processing factories in the country.
The Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal Education Director, Beatrice Mamle Nkum underscored the need for effective teaching and learning to the community in a conducive environment and therefore commended Blue Skies Foundation for contributing immensely to access to quality education in the municipality.
She reiterated that the Municipal Education Directorate will ensure effective monitoring and supervision to maintain the facility.
The Headteacher of Panpanso Krokese MA Basic School, Madam Lydia Akortia while commending Blue Skies for the gesture, appealed to the municipal education directorate to help post teachers to the school.
She also appealed for computers as well as classroom desks to enhance effective teaching and learning in the school.
