Asante Kotoko came from behind to beat Hearts of Oak to clinch their ninth President’s Cup title at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Mohammed Camara’s penalty save late in the game sealed a 2-1 win for the Porcupine Warriors over the Phobians on Sunday, July 6.

Hamza Issah capitalised on a howler by Mohammed Camara in the 27th minute to open the scoring at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Camara fumbled with a cross into the box, spilling the ball into an open space where the Hearts forward tapped into an empty net.

Kotoko chased the equaliser right after conceding but was second best in the remainder of the opening half as they went into the break with a goal down.

However, it didn’t take long before Kotoko found the back of the net right after the break.

Peter Amidu Acquah forced the equaliser after his run from the left flank before the ball came off Konadu Yiadom to make it 1-1.

A minute after drawing level, Kotoko added a second. Kwame Poku came up with a simple finish after a square pass, which left him with an empty net.

Poku should have made it 3-1 for Kotoko in the 74th minute, but he failed to connect with Albert Amoah’s low cross into his path.

Hearts had a goal rruled out for offside before they were awarded a penalty momets later.

Emmanuel Amankwah stepped up to take the resulting spot kick. His effort was saved by Kotoko goalkeeper Camara.

Hearts were presented with late chances to draw level but fluffled their lines on all of those occasions.

At the end of the game, it was Kotoko who sealed the all important to win, clinching yet another President’s Cup title.
