Tensions flared in Hohoe as the Constituency Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Wodey Samuel, forcibly locked the doors of the Municipal Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), plunging operations into chaos.
Mr. Wodey claims he was the rightful nominee for the role of Hohoe Municipal NADMO Director, but was overlooked in favour of his deputy, Mr. Raphael Kumaga. Frustrated by what he described as an unjust decision, Mr. Wodey took matters into his own hands, shutting down the government facility to protest the appointment.
“I was the one tipped for the position, and this decision is a complete injustice. Until it is reversed, that office will remain closed,” Mr. Wodey declared defiantly.
The abrupt closure has paralyzed activities at the NADMO office, with staff unable to access the premises. The Municipal Chief Executive has yet to comment publicly on the matter.
However, the action has drawn sharp condemnation from within Mr. Wodey’s own party. Mr. Newton Darkey, NDC Constituency Chairman for Hohoe, described the move as unacceptable and misleading. According to him, Mr. Wodey had initially declined the NADMO post when it was offered and had instead requested a different position—one he ultimately failed to secure.
“Mr. Wodey rejected the role and pursued another position. When that didn’t work out, he tried to come back for the NADMO office, which by then had been filled,” Mr. Darkey explained.
The chairman insisted that Mr. Kumaga’s appointment was legitimate and final, and urged all party members to respect the decision and uphold discipline within the ranks.
As the dispute simmers, local government operations in Hohoe remain disrupted, and calls are mounting for swift intervention from party and municipal authorities to restore order.
