The Ga Traditional Council has issued a statement disassociating itself from the activities of one Eze Dr. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, who is alleged to have been parading himself as the King of the Igbo community in Ghana.

In a press release signed by Evelyn Amewotse, Registrar of the Ga Traditional Council, on behalf of the President, following an emergency meeting held on July 9, 2025, the Council—under the leadership of King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse—unanimously resolved that it has never recognized Dr. Ihenetu as a king within the Ga State and has no affiliation with any of his traditional activities.

The Council emphasized that within the Ga State, the recognition of any traditional leader is subject to strict procedures, including formal registration in the National Register of Chiefs.

It stressed that the Ga Traditional Council itself is a creation of statute, operating within Ghana’s legal framework.

“The Ga Traditional Council disassociates itself from all activities of the said Eze Dr. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu,” the statement read.

“The Council has never recognized anybody or person as a King of Igbos within the Ga State.”

The Council directed Dr. Ihenetu to immediately cease and desist from presenting himself as the King of the Igbo community in the Ga State or engaging in any traditional or cultural activities in that capacity.

It also ordered all individuals appointed as Paramount or Divisional Chiefs by Dr. Ihenetu to stop holding themselves out as such within Ga jurisdiction.

Furthermore, the Council declared that any traditional or cultural festivities organized under the banner of importing Igbo culture, and presided over by Dr. Ihenetu in his claimed role as Igbo King, should cease with immediate effect.

“We Ga people are peaceful and welcome all tribes, communities, and nationals into the Ga State, on the condition that they respect Ga traditions and customs,” the statement affirmed.
