The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has disclosed that four individuals have been arrested and granted bail in connection with the major cocaine seizure that took place in Cape Coast earlier this year.

In a statement to Parliament on July 9, 2025, the Minister revealed that the arrests followed the March 2025 interception of a tipper truck transporting approximately 3.3 tonnes of cocaine concealed beneath sand.

The truck was intercepted at Pedu Junction by operatives from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), acting on intelligence.

“It has to be mentioned that apart from the driver and his assistant, four other individuals were subsequently arrested and granted bail,” he indicated.

In a citinewsroom.com report on July 10, 2025, Muntaka stated that two prime suspects remain at large, and security agencies are actively pursuing them.

“The next court hearing of the matter is scheduled to take place on July 24, 2025,” he noted, reaffirming the government’s commitment to combating drug trafficking.
